January 20. Caitlin’s been gone a month, and many of us are sharing a national day of mourning. My friend, the wonderful writer Jennie Fields, just shared two new poems written by her friend Kory Wells.

These poems really speak to me, and I hope they will speak to you as well.

“In the dark may you see all that you need…”

Beautiful poems. I am paying zero attention to the inevitability of today’s events, in stark contrast to how hopeful I was 8 years ago. ‘Is it such a weakness to come to a cold end trapped in hope?’
Love that line. Much love to you.

I am so touched that my poems have given you some comfort today, Cate. From one mother to another, peace and love.

Forgive me for calling you the wrong name, Maryanne-I confused you with a Cate who posted on Jennie’s feed. All best.
